Well the cricket season has again come to an end and we would like to thank Gary Chillingwoth for the fantastic result he has achieved with this club over the last 4 years. Both the A Grade and B Grade have both moved up a division since Gary joined the club and the A Grade have contested three finals with one minor premiership. Gary will be retiring as captain/coach and we wil be looking for another coach to continue what Gary has started.
On the field the club enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in many years. The A Grade fell just short of its first A1 Premier grade premiership going down to Grange in a hard fought encounter. It was the first time the club has contested the A1 Grand Final, and although we didn't come away with the silverware the players can hold their heads high with some fantastic results throughout the season.
The B Grade also performed strongly after moving up th B1's this year after winning the B2 Premiership last year. A solid year culminated in the side making the semi-finals but unfortunately they were knocked out of premiership contention by Hectorville.
The C and D Grade struggled at times this year, but this was broken up by some excelllent results against the odds in several games. Ben Jolly stood out for the C Grade by taking out the association C Grade batting trophy. There were also two hatricks taken in the C Grade this season, one by Shane Scraggs and the other by allrounder Ben Jolly.
The Junior's also performed very strongly this season. The under 17's finished runner up after the grand final was cancelled due to extreme heat but the under 13's won their first premiership by finishing top and subsequently taking out the title when their grand final was also cancelled due to the heat. The under 15's were unlucky not to make the finals after being on top of the table early on in the year.
We would like to extend our greates thanks to the coaches that provide their time and energy to manage and develop the junior teams and hope to continue with further success next season.
We wish the football sides all the best in the coming season and look forward to putting in another strong performance next cricket season.
